Merely a few days after the deadly earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand which caused massive destruction, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal on Friday. According to information from the National Center for Seismology, the tremors were also felt throughout Delhi-NCR.
The Android Earthquake Alerts System reported that the epicenter was located three kilometers away from Garkhakot, Nepal.
The origin of the quake is believed to be 20 km beneath the Earth’s surface.
Nepal is highly susceptible to earthquakes as it is situated in one of the most active tectonic areas (Seismic zones IV and V).
Nepal experienced its deadliest earthquake in 2015 when a 7.8-magnitude tremor resulted in the loss of more than 9,000 lives and ruined over a million buildings.
