Congress is unlikely to act against senior leader Ajay Maken despite AAP’s escalating offensive led by MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi.
Atishi accused Congress of colluding with the BJP to defeat AAP in Delhi, alleging that BJP was funding Congress candidates, including Sandeep Dikshit. “Congress’s actions indicate a mutual understanding with the BJP to weaken AAP,” she claimed, asserting that financial arrangements were being covertly made to harm AAP’s prospects.
Sanjay Singh intensified the attack, alleging that Ajay Maken labeled Arvind Kejriwal as “anti-national.” Singh demanded action against Maken within 24 hours, warning that AAP would consult INDIA bloc partners to consider removing Congress from the Opposition alliance if the issue remained unresolved.
A senior Congress leader dismissed the demands, stating, “We have no intention to take any action against Ajay Maken. Kejriwal and his party should not be taken seriously. They have always acted as the B-team of the BJP, sabotaging Congress’s prospects in states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, and Haryana by dividing the anti-BJP vote.”
Another Congress leader noted similarities between AAP’s rhetoric and that of TMC, suggesting that AAP aims to sideline Congress in the INDIA bloc for Mamata Banerjee’s leadership.
“Kejriwal and his leaders have a history of making baseless allegations and later apologizing when faced with defamation cases. We don’t take him seriously,” the leader added
