Prominent Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) politician G Lasya Nanditha, a member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly, passed away on Friday in a car accident near Sangareddy.
The accident occured in the Aminpur mandal of the district on the Sultanpur Outer Ring Road (ORR). According to reports, Nanditha, 37, was riding in an SUV when it lost control and struck the divider, killing the MLA.
“Lasya Nanditha was traveling from Basara towards Gatchibowli. It’s possible that the driver slept off while operating the vehicle. The front half of the car was seriously damaged. Her personal security guard was also hurt in the collision. She was initially brought to a private hospital and declared deceased there. For a PME, her body is being moved to a government hospital,” stated Sangareddy Superintendent of Police CH Rupesh.
Lasya Nanditha, who was born in Hyderabad in 1986, entered politics almost ten years ago. Prior to winning an assembly seat from Secunderabad Cantonment in 2023, she worked as a corporator in the Kavadiguda ward.
G Sayanna, her father, was the Secunderabad Cantonment seat’s previous occupant until his death in early 2023. Nanditha won the race after obtaining the BRS nomination after his passing.
BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao expressed his condolences for Lasya Nanditha’s passing in a statement released by his office, assuring her family of the party’s unwavering support.
Revanth Reddy, the chief minister of Telangana, also expressed his sorrow at Nanditha’s passing and sent his condolences to her family. “I was horrified to learn about the sudden passing of Cantonment legislator Lasya Nandita. Swargiya Sayanna, Nandita’s father, and I were quite close. That same month last year, he passed away. The fact that Nandita passed away unexpectedly in the same month is also incredibly painful,” he wrote.
Senior BRS leader KT Rama Rao took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his sorrow at Nanditha’s untimely death.
“Just now heard the absolutely tragic & shocking news that Lasya is no more !! Woke up to the devastating loss of the young legislator who was a very good leader in the making My heartfelt prayers for strength to her family and friends in this terrible & difficult time (sic),” KTR said.
