Arambai Tenggol, a group recently in the news for surrendering hundreds of weapons following a call from Governor Ajay Bhalla and often hailed as a private militia, on Monday emphasized its commitment to restoring peace and protecting Manipur’s cultural heritage.
The group commended Home Minister Shri Amit Shah’s efforts to restore religious places damaged during the ethnic conflict of May 2023. “The reconstruction of our sacred sites is not just about restoring buildings—it is about healing our people and preserving our cultural identity,” an Arambai Tenggol said in a statement. “We urge the state administration to act swiftly in rebuilding Hindu temples and Meitei religious sites that were desecrated.”
Arambai Tenggol also issued a strong warning to those it accused of destabilizing Manipur. “We will not tolerate any attempts to disrupt the territorial integrity of our state,” the statement stated. “The time for violence is over. We call upon all those responsible to respect the Indian Constitution and work towards peace.”
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding Manipur, the group emphasized that it will take all necessary measures to protect the land and its people if unrest continues. “We are not mere bystanders in this crisis. If the peace and security of Manipur are threatened, we will act accordingly to defend our homeland.”
Arambai Tenggol also urged the people of Manipur to support the Central Government’s peace initiative. “The road to peace requires the collective efforts of all communities. We must come together, reject violence, and focus on rebuilding our state for a better future.”
