If it was Vaibhav Suryavanshi yesterday, today it was young Ayush Mhatre. The 17-year-old Mumbai cricketer Ayush Mhatre made his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (April 20) against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.

Mhatre competes for Mumbai in domestic cricket and joined the Chennai franchise this week as a substitute for Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Mhatre has participated in nine First Class and seven List A games to date. He debuted in domestic cricket for Mumbai in the Irani Cup game versus the Rest of India in Lucknow.

Mhatre became the youngest to debut for CSK

Mhatre made his IPL debut for CSK at the age of 17 years and 278 days, becoming the youngest player. Prior to Mhatre, the record was held by Abhinav Mukund, who debuted for CSK at 18 years and 139 days against Rajasthan Royals in Chennai during the first season of IPL.

Mhatre was not picked initially for CSK during the mega auction in Jeddah. However, he was roped in by CSK during mid-season trials at Chepauk.

Who is Ayush Mhatre?

Ayush Mhatre is a right-handed batsman who plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket. He is very highly rated.

At only 17 years and 278 days old, he became the youngest player to wear the yellow jersey for CSK and made a quick 32 runs off 15 balls before Deepak Chahar ended his innings.

Prior to his IPL debut, he had established an encouraging domestic record with 458 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and 471 in the Ranji Trophy, which featured three centuries.

Mhatre has participated in nine First-Class games and seven List A matches, accumulating close to 1,000 runs in total.

His advanced shot selection, combined with an aggressive approach, has distinguished him from his contemporaries and attracted the interest of CSK’s seasoned talent scouts.

In his first IPL match, Mhatre hit two sixes and four fours. Against Ashwani Kumar and Deepak Chahar, he demonstrated significant determination and poise, easily sending a short ball into the distant stands.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
