An Indore family court has mandated that a lady provide her estranged husband Rs 5,000 a month in alimony.

The woman claimed that because of the dowry, her husband had physically and psychologically tortured her. In the family court, she also submitted a petition requesting spousal support.

The man responded by filing a complaint in which he claimed she had harassed him following their marriage and made demands for maintenance. He said that his wife’s demands forced him to abandon his studies, which is why he was unemployed.

Manish Jharola, Aman’s attorney, stated that after considering both arguments, the judge directed the wife to give her husband Rs 5,000 a month.

When she initially told the authorities that she owned a beauty parlor, there were contradictions in her account. She did, however, admit to the court that her husband was the one who made the money and that she was unemployed.

The woman was ordered by the family court to give her estranged spouse the money on a monthly basis since there was insufficient evidence.

Manish Jharola speculates that this may be the first instance in Madhya Pradesh when a wife has been mandated to provide her husband with maintenance. He continued by saying that maintenance is typically given to the wife in circumstances when there has been physical or emotional abuse.

According to the attorney, Aman, a Ujjain resident, first got to know the woman in 2020. After falling in love, she asked him to marry her a few months later.

Aman, who was only in the 12th grade, declined her proposal, stating that he would get married after finishing his schooling.

After threatening to kill herself, the woman pressured Aman, and in July 2021, they were married at an Arya Samaj temple, according to Jharola.

The couple moved into a leased Indore home after getting married. Aman claimed that the woman began to physically and psychologically abuse him a month after the wedding.

Not even two months after their wedding, he made the decision to leave her and return home to his parents.

Subsequently, the woman proceeded to submit a missing person’s report at the police station and started a family court action against Aman on the grounds of dowry harassment. She also wanted him to pay her maintenance.

Aman responded by filing a family court petition seeking maintenance and a police complaint against his wife. He informed the judge that because he was unemployed, he would not be able to pay the alimony.

The woman was ordered to pay him Rs 5,000 a month by the court after it ruled in his favour.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
