Following the tremendous reaction to ChatGPT’s Ghibli-inspired image creator, OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman went to X on Sunday to share his surprise. He stated that the reaction to the AI chatbot’s feature is “insane” and is leaving his teams without any time to rest.

The ChatGPT Ghibli image generator is included in the latest tools update of the AI chatbot, which produces images influenced by the unique animation style of Studio Ghibli, a renowned Japanese animation studio established by Hayao Miyazaki.

In reply to a remark about managing heavy loads, Altman shared his surprise, noting that he had never seen such a massive reaction previously.

“Can yall please chill on generating images this is insane our team needs sleep,” Sam Altman wrote on X.

“We just haven’t been able to catch up since launch, so people are still working to keep the service up… biblical demand, I have never seen anything like it,” he said.

Since the feature’s launch, users have flocked to platforms such as X, Instagram, and TikTok to showcase their AI-generated art inspired by Ghibli, leading to hashtags like #Ghiblified and #GhibliArt consistently trending, with a diverse range of participants including everyday users, politicians, influencers, celebrities, and even brands utilizing the tool.

Studio Ghibli is a renowned Japanese animation studio celebrated for producing stunningly beautiful and deeply affecting films. Their legendary films, including Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Howl’s Moving Castle, have enchanted viewers globally through their breathtaking visuals and rich narratives.
