Sleeper bus collides with milk truck in UP’s Unnao; 18 people killed & 19 injured
A double-decker sleeper bus collided with a milk truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway here on Wednesday, killing 18 people and injuring 19, police said.
The collision occurred about 5 a.m. in Jojikot village, in the Behta Mujhawar police station area.
According to District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi, the bus was traveling from Bihar to Delhi at high speeds when it collided with the milk truck from behind.
The accident claimed the lives of 18 persons and left 19 injured. He confirmed that an investigation had been initiated into the matter.

According to Bangarmau Circle Officer (CO) Arvind Kumar, the collision caused both the bus and the milk tanker to overturn. Drivers of the two vehicles were among those killed. He claimed that the injured had been brought to the hospital and that their condition was stable.
President Murmu, PM Modi pay condolences
President Droupadi Murmu expressed grief over the lost lives and wished speedy recovery to those injured.
“The news of several people’s deaths in a car accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, is exceedingly distressing. I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the families of those who have died unexpectedly, and I hope those who have been injured a swift recovery,” she wrote on Twitter.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences and granted an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh for the families of those killed in the accident.
“The road accident in Unnao is excruciating. My heartfelt condolences to all who have lost loved ones in this accident. May God grant them strength throughout this terrible time. In addition, I wish the injured a rapid recovery,” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) cited Modi as saying in a post on X.
