Rescue efforts are ongoing in Badrinath, located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, following an avalanche that hit a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp close to the high-altitude border village of Mana on Friday, burying about 25 workers under the snow.

At first, there were 57 workers in total, out of which 32 have been saved and taken to an Army camp close to Mana village. Reports indicate that several of the rescued workers are in critical condition.

The avalanche hit in the morning between Mana and Mana Pass, burying the workers involved in snow-clearing tasks crucial for Army access to the India-Tibet border.

Sandeep Tiwari, the District Magistrate of Chamoli, verified the incident, mentioning that several teams were confronting difficult terrain, heavy snow, and rain to save the workers who were trapped. There were no reports of injuries right away.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami promised that every effort was being made to guarantee the secure evacuation of the trapped workers. “Of the 57 BRO workers who were trapped, 16 have been saved.” Rescue efforts are continuing with support from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and various other agencies. “Our disaster management team and the whole administration are completely vigilant,” the Chief Minister stated in a post on X earlier.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
