Security forces killed 31 Naxalites in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Sunday, police said. The gunfight broke out in the forest area on Sunday morning and two security personnel were also killed, as per the Bastar police officials.
Officials confirmed that numerous other people were injured during the confrontation.
The shootout began in a forest in the Indravati National Park. According to a senior police official, a joint team of personnel from several security forces was conducting an anti-Naxalite operation.
Sundarraj P, Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, stated that the latest gunfight occurred in the Indravati National Park region while an anti-Naxalite operation was being carried out by a joint team of soldiers from various security services.
“Thirty-one Naxalites have been killed in the encounter,” he said.
The official acknowledged that they had confiscated a large amount of firearms and explosives from the location.
According to the officials, one of the two security men slain in the gunfight was a member of the state police’s District Reserve Guard and the other was with the Special Task Force. Officials verified that two more were injured.
The official stated that attempts are on to rescue the bodies of the deceased security officers.
According to Sundarraj P., the injured jawans are safe and have been transported to a medical center for treatment.
So far in 2025, security forces have killed 81 Naxalites in a variety of engagements.
