CBS reported that Illinois State Police arrested two Canadian nationals of Indian descent after seizing more than $40 million worth of cocaine from a semi-trailer truck near the Iowa state line.
Both Vanshpreet Singh, aged 27, and Manpreet Singh, aged 36, who live in Ontario, Canada, have been arrested and are facing numerous felony charges.
These offenses involve having cocaine, having cocaine with the intention of distributing it, and trafficking cocaine.
The state trooper in Henry County conducted a vehicle inspection which led to the arrests.

Authorities reported that the examination of the Volvo semi-trailer revealed “various signs of illegal behavior.” A later investigation uncovered 1,146 pounds of cocaine, worth over $40 million on the street.
“ISP’s coordinated focus on trafficking is helping keep dangerous drugs out of our communities,” Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly said in a statement.
Vanshpreet and Manpreet are currently in custody at the Henry County Jail, awaiting their initial court hearing.
