West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued a harsh warning to the police on Monday amid protests over the rape and murder of a 31-year-old woman trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. She stated that the CBI would take over the case if the police were unable to solve it by Sunday, August 18.
Mamata Banerjee describes the incident as “extremely painful”
Banerjee described the occurrence as “extremely painful” and “shocking,” noting that the victim’s parents claimed that someone inside was also participating in the murder.
“We have dispatched a dog squad, video department, and forensic department to investigate the incident.” If Kolkata Police are unable to resolve the case by Sunday, we would refer it to the CBI,” she stated.
“This is a very painful occurrence. Whoever is engaged in this instance should be punished promptly. We want this case to be expedited so that the court procedure can be completed quickly. “I was shocked that the incident occurred despite the presence of nurses and security personnel in the hospital,” she continued.
“I’ve informed the police that the victim’s parents have also stated that there appears to be inside involvement. The principal, head of department, medical superintendent/vice principal (MSVP), and ASP have all been dismissed from this facility,” she stated.
