US President Donald Trump has appointed Indian-American ex-journalist Kush Desai as his deputy press secretary, according to an official statement from the White House released on Friday.
Desai has served as Communications Director for Republican Party of Iowa
Desai has held the position of Deputy Communications Director for the 2024 Republican National Convention and served as Communications Director for the Iowa Republican Party.
He also held the position of Deputy Communications Director for Battleground States and Pennsylvania at the Republican National Committee. In this position, he was tasked with crafting messaging and developing narratives, concentrating on key states, particularly Pennsylvania. Desai has extensive experience in political communications.

Prior to becoming a Research Analyst at the Republican National Committee, Desai spent 10 months as a reporter at The Daily Caller in Washington, as stated on his LinkedIn profile.
He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College, an elite Ivy League research institution located in Hanover, New Hampshire.
As stated in his LinkedIn profile, he received the James O. Freedman Presidential Research Scholarship, a program that enables students to acquire research experience alongside Dartmouth faculty.
