The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) urged the government on Tuesday to take “every possible” step to protect the safety of Hindus, Sikhs, and other minorities in Bangladesh, alleging that “fundamentalists” are targeting them in many regions of the neighboring nation.
Addressing a press conference, VHP president Alok Kumar urged for strong security measures along the Indo-Bangladesh border, claiming that attempts could be made to “orchestrate infiltration” into Indian territory by using the current situation in the neighboring country.
‘International community should take “effective action” to ensure safety of minorities’
He also urged the international community to take “effective action” to ensure the safety of minorities and the protection of human rights in Bangladesh, which he described as “trapped in a strange uncertainty, violence, and anarchy”.
“Religious places, economic establishments, and homes of Hindus, Sikhs, and other minorities have recently been attacked in Bangladesh. “Until last night, 22 houses in Panchgarh district alone, 20 houses in Jhenaidah, and 22 shops in Jessore were targeted by fundamentalists, and in many districts, crematoriums were vandalised,” he claimed.

He stated that there is “hardly” any district in Bangladesh that has not become a target of their “violence and terror”.
“In Bangladesh, Hindus and women’s homes, businesses, offices, and economic establishments, as well as their places of belief, faith, and worship, such as temples and gurudwaras, are unsafe. “The situation of the oppressed minorities there is deteriorating,” Kumar remarked.
Current scenario a “big attempt” for terrorists’ infiltration: Alok Kumar
Kumar believes that taking advantage of the current scenario, a “big attempt” could be made to organize infiltration into Indian territory over the 4,096-kilometer-long Indo-Bangladesh border.
The VHP president stated this after the resignation of the Hasina government and her departure from the country, the process of forming an interim government in the neighboring country had begun.
“In this hour of difficulty, Bharat stands solidly with the entire Bangladeshi society as a friend. We hope that democracy and a secular administration are restored in Bangladesh as soon as feasible. “The society and government of Bharat will continue to support Bangladesh in this matter,” he said.
