Ukraine accepted a US plan for a 30-day truce and consented to start negotiations with Russia during crucial discussions in Jeddah on Tuesday after three years of prolonged conflict.

The favorable reaction from Ukraine led President Donald Trump’s administration to remove a hold on military assistance and to anticipate the start of the conclusion of three years of conflict.

By applying significant pressure on Kyiv and engaging with Moscow, Trump astonished allies, leading Ukrainian officials to arrive for discussions in Saudi Arabia keen to reconcile and suggesting a limited ceasefire on air and maritime assaults.

Trump’s advisors advocated for additional measures and stated that Ukraine concurred with their suggestion for a complete month-long truce in a conflict that has resulted in tens of thousands of casualties.

“Today we made an offer that the Ukrainians have accepted, which is to enter into a ceasefire and into immediate negotiations,” US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters after around nine hours of talks in an ornate hotel in Jeddah.

“We’ll take this offer now to the Russians and we hope they’ll say yes to peace. The ball is now in their court.”

Rubio stated that the United States would promptly reinstate military aid and intelligence sharing that had been halted to apply pressure on its wartime ally after a problematic meeting on February 28 between Trump and President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In Washington, Trump expressed his willingness to greet Zelensky at the White House again and might talk to President Vladimir Putin this week.

When a reporter inquired about the possibility of a complete ceasefire in Ukraine, Trump replied: “I truly hope it happens within the next few days; that’s what I would like to see.”

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
