On Friday, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly saw another day of chaotic conflict between rival MLAs regarding a resolution that called for the reinstatement of Article 370 in the Union Territory.
BJP MLAs were spotted chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ as a scuffle broke out in the House following a banner display by a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) MLA from Kupwara advocating for the restoration of Article 370.
In the midst of the turmoil, BJP MLAs who entered the well of the House were removed under the directives of Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.
On Thursday, a clash occurred among the MLAs when Khurshid Ahmad Sheikh, the sibling of imprisoned Baramulla Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid, showcased a banner advocating for the restoration of Article 370.

A tumultuous scene unfolded on the initial day after PDP MLA Waheed Para introduced a resolution against the revocation of Article 370 and advocated for the reinstatement of the union territory’s special status.
Para, representing the Pulwama Assembly seat, presented the resolution to newly-elected Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather and sought a discussion on the issue during the five-day session, although it was not included in the agenda.
“Although the agenda of the House has been finalised, we believe that your authority as the Speaker allows the inclusion of the resolution, as it reflects the sentiment of the people at large,” it said.
Soon after the resolution was presented, all 28 BJP MLAs from Jammu and Kashmir rose to contest the action, resulting in uproarious scenes within the Assembly.
