The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) established a committee consisting of three members for the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) On Wednesday, December 27. The Indian Olympic Association established an ad hoc committee after the suspension of the WFI, and the Ministry of Sports directed that Bhupendra Singh Bajwa serve as its chairman, Manjusha Kanwar as a member, and MM Somaya as a member. This committee will supervise the WFI’s different tasks and activities.

These include player selection, sending names of players for international tournaments, organizing sporting events, supervising, and managing bank accounts.

In a sharply worded statement on Sunday, December 24, the Sports Ministry banned WFI. The ministry contended that the recently elected board, led by Sanjay Singh, remained influenced by prior office-bearers who were removed following claims of sexual harassment.

Since the beginning of 2023, there has been instability surrounding WFI. The events started when many well-known wrestlers staged protests against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the president at the time.

Under Brij Bhushan’s leadership, these sportsmen disclosed a number of startling incidents of ongoing harassment and intimidation. The then-existing WFI board was suspended by the IOC and the Sports Ministry as a result of these revelations.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
