Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, heading a multi-party delegation to five nations, on Friday voiced disappointment regarding the Colombian government’s condolence message for Pakistani victims following India’s Operation Sindoor, asserting that there is no moral equivalence between terrorists and defenders of their country.
Tharoor stated that India felt ‘disappointed’ by the Colombian government’s response, which seemingly offered sincere condolences for the lives lost in Pakistan following the Indian strikes. He also stated that they should have instead shown sympathy for the victims of terrorism. Tharoor was addressing a media briefing in Colombia.
“We’ll tell our friends in Colombia that there is no comparison between those who send out terrorists and those who oppose them,” he stated.

‘India’s action a legitimate self-defence measure’
Tharoor emphasized that India’s response was a valid self-defence action after a violent terror strike on civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, attributed to The Resistance Front — a Pakistan-based splinter group of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
He stressed that India is quite pleased to discuss with Colombia in depth regarding the situation as Colombia, has also faced numerous terror attacks. We have endured a very large number of attacks for almost four decades,” Thaoor said.

Tharoor urged Columbia to deeply understand India’s actions
Shashi Tharoor also urged Colombia to have a deeper understanding of India’s activities. He stated that the situation may not have been completely understood when that particular statement (Colombia offering condolences for fatalities in Pakistan following Indian strikes on terror hubs) came.

Tharoor also spoke on third-party mediation
Shashi Tharoor rejected the idea of third-party involvement in the recent tensions between India and Pakistan, emphasizing that India had not engaged in any official discussions.
Tharoor is presently heading a multi-party delegation to Guyana, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, and the United States, with the goal of exposing Pakistan’s connections to terrorism, including the 9/11 attack on the US, and claiming that the recent conflict was initiated by the Pahalgam terror attack rather than Operation Sindoor.
