The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is at the halfway mark and the scenario is quite surprising at the moment. As traditionally dominant teams like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders lie in the bottom half of the points table, teams like Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Delhi Capitals have excelled.
The Gujarat Titans team, coached by Ashish Nehra, is sitting pretty at the top. Having only two defeats in eight matches, GT secured 12 points. Their Net Run Rate is impressive as well, positioning them at the top of the standings.
Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra has played a crucial role in the team’s rise to the top. Impressed by Nehra’s excellent man-management skills, former Indian star spinner Harbhajan Singh stated that Nehra is the ideal coach for the national team.
“I believe there is no better coach than him for the Indian team in the current situation. He is an excellent coach. If BCCI wants, it should ask Nehra if he is interested in working with the Indian team. I doubt he will agree since he won’t have enough time to give. However, there’s no better option than him,” Harbhajan Singh remarked on his YouTube channel.
Harbhajan lauded Nehra for his excellent coaching skills
Former Indian left-arm pacer Nehra has been quite influential ever since he has been given the role to coach the Titans. He is quite expressive on the field too.
Harbhajan further loaded Nehra for his excellent skills. He stated, “Great job, Ashish Nehra. Since the day he joined, he has infused energy into this team. Each year, this team comes prepared. People say that a left-arm spinner struggles against left-handed batters, or that an off-spinner is ineffective against right-handed batters; however, Ashish Nehra’s bowlers have done it all. It’s all about the mindset, and that is what Ashish Nehra brings.”
‘Nehra has played key role in boosting Siraj’s confidence’: Vikram Solanki
Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra has had a “significant impact” on boosting the low confidence of Mohammed Siraj, who was excluded from India’s white-ball squad after their T20 World Cup success in 2024, believes GT’s Director of Cricket, Vikram Solanki.
With 11 wickets across seven games, the ex-RCB bowler has been instrumental for GT, which is presently in first place in the IPL 2025 standings.
