Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) was deemed a “Unlawful Association” by the Center on Sunday in accordance with the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the group engaged in “forbidden activities to separate Jammu and Kashmir from India and establish Islamic rule.” “The group is found spreading anti-India propaganda and continuing terror activities to fuel secessionism in Jammu and Kashmir,” Amit Shah stated.
“Under PM Narendra Modi’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, any individual or organisation found involved in anti-India activities will be thwarted forthwith,” Amit Shah said on X.
This comes days after the government banned the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) (MLJK-MA) for being involved in anti-national and secessionist activities and “inciting people to establish Islamic rule” in Jammu and Kashmir.
