The Union Government on Monday declared gangster Goldy Brar a terrorist under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs revealed in a gazetted notification that Goldy Brar is connected to the outlawed Khalistani group Babbar Khalsa International, which is well-known for its anti-Indian operations.

Goldy Brar came to the radar of Indian agencies after he took responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022.

The Home Ministry stated that Goldy Brar is “backed by cross-border agencies and was involved in multiple killings and professes radical ideology, figured in making threatening calls to pro-nationalist leaders, demanding ransom and posting the claims of killings on different social media platforms”.

His and his accomplices’ “conspiracy to disrupt the peace, communal harmony, and law and order in the State of Punjab through nefarious designs including sabotage, raising of terror modules, carrying out targeted killings, and other anti-national activities” was further stated by the Ministry.

Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice (RCN) for Goldy Brar’s extradition in June 2022, days after Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
