One of the accused in Tamil Nadu BSP chief K Armstrong‘s murder, was slain in an encounter on Saturday night, according to police. Thiruvengadam, a history-sheeter accused of murdering the BSP state head, was murdered in a police encounter near Madhavaram in Chennai, according to police.
Thiruvengadam is alleged to have followed Armstrong for several days before the murder, keeping a close eye on the BSP leader’s movements.
Thiruvengadam was taken into custody by Sembiam police on July 11
Thiruvengadam, 33, was detained by Sembiam police for five days on July 11 and transported to the Parangimalai Armed Reserve Station for questioning.
On July 5, six unidentified persons allegedly hacked K Armstrong to death near his home in Chennai’s Perambur district. A bunch of bikers attacked Armstrong with knives, killing him on the road. The BSP chief was hurried to a private hospital in the city and pronounced dead.

At least 11 suspects detained so far in connection with Armstrong’s murder
So far, at least eleven suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
The incident sparked a loud political outcry in the state, with opposition parties accusing the MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government of failing to maintain law and order.

BSP supremo Mayawati demanded CBI probe into Armstrong’s murder
Mayawati, the BSP supremo, had sought a CBI investigation into Armstrong’s death, stating that those caught thus far were not the true culprits. She encouraged Chief Minister Stalin to transfer the investigation to a central agency so that the victim could receive justice.
Meanwhile, Stalin paid a visit to Armstrong’s family and told her that the perpetrators of the crime would face punishment. He expressed his condolences and sympathy to the BSP leader’s wife and other family members, assuring them that all those engaged in the heinous murder would be punished in accordance with the law.
