On Tuesday, July 18, India revealed its squad for the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka. Suryakumar Yadav was named T20I captain by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, instead of Hardik Pandey, who was Rohit’s deputy in the ICC T20I World Cup.
Hardik, who captained India’s T20I team during the 2023 season, was overlooked as Rohit Sharma’s replacement. Hardik Pandya was also snubbed from the vice-captain role in the Indian T20I team.
Suryakumar has won 5 out of 7 matches as captain
Suryakumar Yadav was named captain after only seven matches in command of the team.
Suryakumar won five of these seven T20Is, scoring 300 runs. The big-hitter has always improved his performance when given captaincy, scoring two fifties and a century in those games.

Shubhman Gill named vice-captain of Team India
Shubman Gill was chosen the T20I team’s vice-captain, which is quite an interesting move. Riyan Parag was retained in the T20I squad for the match against Sri Lanka, while Abhishek Sharma, who scored a century against Zimbabwe in the five-match series, was left out.
Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant have been named wicketkeepers for the series, but KL Rahul remains out of the T20I squad.
