At least six people lost their lives in an accident that occurred between Singilipatti and Punnaiyapuram in southern Tamil Nadu on the early hours of Sunday. In a fatal accident, a car collided head-on with a truck loaded with cement bags.

The accident happened around 3:30 am when the driver of the car reportedly fell asleep while driving, causing a head-on collision with the truck bound for Kerala.

Among the victims were Karthik, Vel Manoj, Subramani, Manoharan, and Pothiraj, who were returning home from a weekend trip to Kutralam.

Out of the six individuals in the car, five passed away instantly, and one died from their wounds while being taken to the hospital.

The bodies were then transferred to the Tirunelveli government hospital for autopsy, and the police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident.

Within thirty minutes of their arrival, the victims were removed from the wreckage by police and fire and rescue crews.

After thereafter, the remains were taken to the government hospital in Tirunelveli for an autopsy. The police have already started a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
