The largest electric vehicle manufacturer in China, BYD, is getting ready to release its third model in India. On March 5, the much anticipated BYD Seal electric sedan is expected to debut, complementing the current lineup that includes the e6 electric MPV and the Atto 3 electric SUV.
Introducing the BYD Seal: A Game-Changer in the Electric Sedan Market
The BYD Seal was supposed to launch during the holidays, but there were delays. The electric sedan, which competes with vehicles like the Tesla Model 3, is already causing a stir in international markets.
With dimensions of 4,800 mm for length, 1,875 mm for width, and 1,460 mm for height, the BYD Seal is said to have an elegant design that is built upon the EV manufacturer’s specialized e-Platform 3.0. The Seal, which was influenced by the Ocean X concept that was on display in 2021, has an aerodynamic body with an amazing drag coefficient of just 0.21 cd. Its exterior features full-width LED taillights that span the length of the boot lid and crystal LED headlamps with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs.

Elevated Comfort and Cutting-Edge Technology Define the BYD Seal’s Interior
With soft-touch materials and a commanding 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, the BYD Seal promises a premium experience. Among other things, the dashboard has two wireless charging pads, a head-up display, and a 10.25-inch digital driver display.
The Blade battery technology of the BYD Seal is one of its best features; it guarantees excellent performance. In international markets, the electric sedan is available with two different battery options: a smaller 61.4 kWh battery that can travel 550 km on a single charge, or a larger 82.5 kWh battery that can travel up to 700 km (CLTC) on a single charge. With the larger pack, the Seal can support fast charging capacities of up to 150 kW, and with the smaller pack, up to 110 kW.

BYD Seal: Setting the Standard for Safety, Performance, and Luxury
BYD places a high priority on safety, as evidenced by the Seal’s 5-star safety rating from the Euro NCAP crash test. Notably, the Seal received high percentages in a number of categories, such as safety assistance (76%), vulnerable road users (82%), adult occupants (89%), and child occupants (87%).
The Seal comes standard with dual front airbags, side airbags, a center airbag, belt pre-tensioners, ISOFIX child seat mounts, an airbag cut-off switch, and seatbelt reminders. The Lane Assist System, Fatigue/Distraction Detection, and Autonomous Emergency Braking are further safety features.
The BYD Seal will come with single PMS and dual motor options for Indian roads. The more potent dual-motor version, which has a combined 523 bhp and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in an amazing 3.8 seconds, will be available in the Indian version. Positioned as a premium offering, the BYD Seal is expected to retail for between ₹65 and ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, directly competing with the BMW i4 and the Kia EV6. On March 5, electric vehicle fans can excitedly await the introduction of this state-of-the-art addition to India’s electric vehicle landscape.
