HOSPITAL WORKER SUSPENDED AFTER ASSAULTING PATIENT
A hospital worker in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli has been suspended after a shocking video allegedly showed her assaulting and verbally abusing a patient. The clip quickly went viral, triggering widespread outrage on social media.
The video allegedly shows the employee kicking the patient nearly 10 times in just 35 seconds. She is also heard verbally abusing him during the incident. The footage sparked criticism, with many calling the behaviour inhumane.
Following the viral video, the Uttar Pradesh Health Department acted swiftly. The action came on the directions of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak.
District hospital authorities launched disciplinary proceedings against the employee. Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Pushpendra Kumar identified her as Pinky, who worked as a sweeper at the hospital.
Officials said her actions violated the Employee Conduct Rules, 1956. Authorities have also initiated proceedings under the Uttar Pradesh Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1999.
Pending the departmental inquiry, the hospital has suspended Pinky. Officials have also attached her to the AYUSH outpatient department.
The administration has formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident. The panel includes orthopaedic consultant Dr. Dinesh Pratap Saroj, microbiologist Dr. Richa, and sister matron Sushma Yadav. The committee has been asked to complete the probe within a fixed timeline.
Meanwhile, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Kumar Ghosh directed chief medical officers across Uttar Pradesh to strictly enforce service conduct rules. He warned that any instance of mistreatment or inhumane behaviour towards patients would invite strict action.
