Manorama Khedkar, the mother of controversial probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar, was arrested by Pune police. Her arrest stems from an old video in which she was shown reportedly threatening farmers with a weapon.
Manorama arrested from a hotel in Raigad district
Manorama Khedkar was apprehended in a hotel in Mahad, Raigad district, after being on the run. Manorama Khedkar used a fictitious name to stay at the hotel. She went by the name “Indubai Dyandev Dhakne,” and another person with her went by the name “Dadasaheb Dnyandev Dhakne”.
The hotel’s owner, Anant Aukirkar, stated they claimed to be mother and son. Aukirkar stated that a police squad arrived at the hotel at 3.30 a.m. and left at 6.30 a.m. with the couple.

The police have included Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to murder) in the FIR. The police are anticipated to take Manorama Khedkar into custody to interview her in the matter.
FIR was filed against Manorama and her husband after video surfaced
Following the emergence of the video, a FIR was filed against Manorama Khedkar and her husband Dilip Khedkar in response to a farmer’s complaint. The FIR also included sections from the Indian Arms Act.
The two-minute video depicted Puja Khedkar’s mother allegedly threatening farmers over a land dispute in Pune’s Mulshi tehsil. Manorama Khedkar, armed with a pistol and escorted by bouncers, was spotted disputing with someone regarding ownership of a part of land.
Dilip Khedkar, a former government employee, bought 25 acres of land in Mulshi tehsil.
Since the video was released, Pune police have been looking for Dilip Khedkar and his wife. Three police squads were formed to apprehend the couple.
