On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Poland, where he will meet with his counterpart Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda to strengthen bilateral ties. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years.
Modi will interact with Indian community in Poland
PM Modi’s visit comes as India and Poland celebrate their 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
In his departure speech, the Prime Minister emphasized Poland’s importance as a key economic ally in Central Europe and expressed his intention to engage with the Indian community in the country.

‘Excited to meet my friend PM Donald Tusk’
“As we celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations, I am visiting Poland. Poland plays a vital role as an economic ally in Central Europe. He stated that our shared dedication to democracy and pluralism strengthens our bond even more,” he said.
“I am excited to meet with my friend Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda to continue strengthening our partnership. He said he would also interact with the active Indian community in Poland.”

Modi to travel to Ukraine via train
PM Modi will journey from Poland to Ukraine on August 23 aboard a luxurious ‘Train Force One’, a mode of transportation previously used by world leaders such as US President Joe Biden. PM Modi is scheduled to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for discussions.
PM Modi will visit Ukraine for the first time since Russia invaded the country in February 2022.
In his departing statement, PM Modi referred to Ukraine as a “friend” and a “partner” and expressed optimism for the prompt restoration of peace and stability.
