On Tuesday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari suggested an idea that he said might lower the cost of petrol to Rs 15 per litre. According to the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, fuel prices might be sharply lowered by using a blend of 40% electricity and 60% ethanol.
During his address in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh, Gadkari said such a blend will also assist in reducing pollution and the cost of imports. “The import amounts to Rs 16 lakh crore, this amount will go to the homes of farmers instead,” added the Union minister.
Gadkari also shared his idea of strengthening farmers across the nation and said the government aims to transform the farmers into both “annadata” and “urjadata”.
Gadkari added that soon he will be launching Toyota’s Innova car, which will consist of a 100 percent flex fuel engine, and will work on 100 percent ethanol. “Soon all vehicles will run on ethanol produced by farmers,” he added.
