NC leader Omar Abdullah set to become Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister
After a strong performance in the Assembly elections following a ten-year gap, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah is poised to become the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
While enjoying their triumph in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference saw an old social media post by Omar Abdullah go viral on Tuesday. The post was published in 2014 following Omar Abdullah’s loss in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
“Keep calm cause (because) I’ll be back”, indicating his party’s return to power,” was shared by Omar Abdullah on X on December 24, 2014.
The NC-Congress alliance secured 48 seats in this year’s Assembly elections in the Union Territory, marking its first major triumph since the repeal of Article 370 five years ago. The NC won 42 out of 51 seats it competed for, while its ally Congress won six out of 32 seats it contested.

Omar Abdullah to lead government, says Farooq Abdullah
According to Farooq Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference, the National Conference and Congress alliance will seek to form the government with Omar Abdullah as the Chief Minister.
Farooq Abdullah stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have shown their rejection of the central government’s decision to revoke Article 370 by supporting the alliance of the National Conference and Congress.
“People have given their mandate. They have proven that they don’t accept the decision that was taken on August 5 (abrogation of Article 370). Omar Abdullah will be the chief minister,” the National Conference chief said.
