Lok Sabha Election Results: BJP win 240, Congress wins 99 seats
According to the official results announced by the Election Commission of India on Wednesday, the BJP won 240 seats, falling short of a majority of 272, while the Congress got 99.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to form a government at the Centre for a third time, despite his NDA falling short of expectations in the face of a surprisingly strong showing by the INDIA alliance, as well as crushing defeats in important states such as Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The 2024 results were a far cry from the 303 and 282 seats gained by the BJP-led NDA in 2019 and 2014, respectively, to form a majority on their own.
TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu heads to Delhi for NDA meet

This is my first press conference after the election is over and before I travel to Delhi. I’m grateful for the voters’ support. Ups and downs are normal in politics. Many political leaders and parties have been overthrown throughout history. This is a historic election. Even overseas voters have returned to their hometowns to vote.”

Tejashwi Yadav reacts on performance on INDIA bloc
Tejashwi Yadav told reporters in Patna, “Our performance has been very good. We based our contest on issues. Lord Ram blessed the INDIA bloc in Ayodhya. So, it is very clear that the ‘Modi factor’ is finished. The BJP is far away from the majority. It is now dependent on allies. We are happy that we have been successful to a great extent in safeguarding the Constitution.”
