Netanyahu criticizes Macron’s call to halt arm deliveries to Israel; says Israel facing multi-front war

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly criticized French President Emmanuel Macron’s suggestion to halt arm deliveries to Israel for Gaza, labeling it as a “disgrace”.

In a video released on Saturday, Netanyahu criticized Macron’s position, asserting that Israel was engaged in a multi-front battle against armed factions supported by Iran.

“As Israel fights the forces of barbarism led by Iran, all civilised countries should be standing firmly by Israel’s side,” Netanyahu said. “Yet President Macron and other Western leaders are now calling for arms embargoes against Israel. Shame on them.”

Netanyahu accuses Macron, West of hypocrisy

In a fiery speech, Netanyahu called out Macron and Western leaders for hypocrisy, pointing out that while Iran is arming its allies in the area, nations who claim to be against terrorism are trying to restrict Israel’s right to protect itself.

Netanyahu aimed to point out the double standard in the requests to halt arm deliveries to Israel, questioning if Iran had limited weapon supplies to its supporters.

“Of course not,” the Israeli leader said. “This axis of terror stands together. But countries who supposedly oppose this terror axis call for an arms embargo on Israel. What a disgrace!”

He indicated Israel’s conflicts on various fronts, such as with Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria, and terrorists in the West Bank.

French President Emmanuel Macron had called for a halt on arms deliveries to Israel for use in Gaza, prompting swift criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“I think we are not being heard,” Macron said. “It is a mistake, including for the security of Israel,” he added, expressing concerns that the war was breeding “hatred”.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
