Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given initial approval to a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah, but Israel has concerns about certain aspects of the agreement, as per a CNN source. The details are set to be relayed to Lebanon on Monday.

According to multiple sources, negotiations are still ongoing on the key points, and the agreement will only be considered final once all issues have been resolved. The Israeli cabinet must also authorize the final ceasefire agreement once it is ready.

Hochstein had a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and parliament speaker Nabih Berri, who is representing Hezbollah in the negotiations, and described the talks as “productive” and “helpful in bridging the differences”.

Last week, Hezbollah’s leader Sheikh Naim Qassem, who assumed leadership after Hassan Nasrallah’s death in an Israeli airstrike in September, stated the group had examined and provided input on the US-supported ceasefire plan. He stated that Israel now held the responsibility for a ceasefire.

Two informants informed Reuters last month that US mediators were developing a plan to cease hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, beginning with a 60-day ceasefire.

Israel started a large attack on Lebanon in the middle of September following months of back-and-forth border attacks. These clashes began on October 8 of the previous year, just a day after Israel entered Gaza in retaliation to Hamas’s assaults on its territory.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
