Neeraj Chopra, India’s double Olympic medalist, has had his homecoming delayed. The Paris Olympics silver medalist has traveled to Germany to see a doctor about his long-standing groin issue. Neeraj will spend nearly a month in Germany, where he will make a decision on his participation in upcoming major competitions, including the Diamond Leagues.
Neeraj has been dealing with groin issue for 2 years
Neeraj Chopra’s uncle, Bhim Chopra, informed India Today that Neeraj Chopra would speak with doctors in Germany to determine whether he needs surgery, which he has been putting off for the past year, and that he will stay in Germany for more than a month.
Neeraj Chopra has been experiencing discomfort in his groin due to a hernia. The Olympian talked about how his groin did cause him problems in Paris.

Neeraj won silver medal at Paris Olympics
Neeraj earned silver in the men’s javelin final after failing to defend his gold title. Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan won the gold medal, setting a new Olympic record of 92.97 metres. Neeraj won silver with an attempt of 89.45m, his second-best throw of his career. Neeraj only made one legal shot out of six, as he fouled all of his other attempts under pressure.
Neeraj acknowledged following the Games that he had postponed his surgery in order to participate in the Olympics. Notably, prior to the Games, the javelin star had briefly trained in Germany.
A minor injury which needs attention
Neeraj initially disclosed his groin issue at the 2022 World Championships. Ever since, he’s had problems with his groin. In the run-up to the Paris Games, Neeraj was selective about where on the tour he visited.
Neeraj Chopra’s support staff might also undergo a major change. Biomechanics expert Dr Klaus Bartonietz is unlikely longer work with him throughout the year.
