Malayalam actor Mohanlal appeared in public today, August 31, shortly after stepping down as the President of AMMA. He finally spoke out about the revelations in the Hema Committee Report, which exposed instances of sexual assault against women in the Malayalam film industry, and advised against “ruining the industry.”
“We request you not to put all the focus on AMMA. Investigation is going on. Please don’t destroy the industry,” Mohanlal said on Saturday, as reported by ANI.
Mohanlal, a seasoned actor, resigned from AMMA on August 27, stating his moral obligation due to sexual abuse accusations against certain association members.

He also informed the press, “We welcome the Hema Committee report. Releasing that report was the correct choice made by the government. AMMA is unable to respond to every single question. Everyone should be asked these questions. This industry works very hard. It has participation from numerous individuals. However, blame cannot be attributed to everyone for this situation. Those who are accountable will face consequences, inquiry is underway.”

He ensured that every ‘issue’ will be examined and looked into, stating, “We will collaborate in the investigation procedure.” Our purpose is solely to correct things. I don’t know of any power group like that. I am not involved in it. I haven’t gone through the Hema Committee report.
