Modi hit out at opposition parties for “weak mindset” towards women, citing the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ incident in Bihar.

September 2, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has  condemned verbal abuse directed at his late mother from the platform of the Congress-RJD alliance in Bihar, describing it as an affront to women across the nation. “Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect,” he declared while launching a government initiative for women entrepreneurs in Bihar, adding, “My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress… These aren’t just insults to my mother—they are insults to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the country.”

Modi questioned the rationale behind dragging his non-political mother into partisan attacks: “She had nothing to do with politics — so why was she abused from that platform?” His remarks underscore the heightened sensitivity around political discourse and its impact on public morality.

Background on the Accused Man and His Political Connections

In the aftermath of the incident, a man identified as Mohammad Rizvi (also known as Raja), from Bhopura village in the Jale assembly constituency near Darbhanga, was arrested. He allegedly used offensive language targeting both PM Modi and his late mother during the Opposition’s “Voter Adhikar Yatra.” The video of the event went viral, prompting police action and political shockwaves.

While the BJP denounced the remarks as a reflection of the Opposition’s moral decline, Congress insisted it did not sanction such behavior and suggested the incident might have been staged or orchestrated to discredit their campaign.

The controversy further fueled political disputes, with BJP leaders demanding an apology and FIRs being filed against Rahul Gandhi and others. Simultaneously, Congress challenged the narrative, accusing the BJP of orchestrating a smear through planted individuals.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
