In recent years, artificial intelligence has emerged as one of the most talked-about technological advancements, touching every aspect of people’s lives, including education. As artificial intelligence has made learning enjoyable and simple, a school in Kerala has introduced a humanoid instructor.
The humanoid, named Iris, was exhibited last month at Thiruvananthapuram’s KTCT Higher Secondary School in association with Makerlabs Edutech Private Limited. Iris was constructed as a component of the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL), a 2021 NITI Aayog initiative to increase students’ extracurricular involvement in the classroom, according to Makerlabs.
With the ability to speak three languages and tackle complex questions, Iris offers a personalised learning journey for each student.
Because of its features—which include mobility, voice assistance, interactive learning modules, and manipulation capabilities—it is a priceless tool in the classroom.
Iris is intended by Makerlabs to be a cutting-edge voice assistant for use in educational settings, not only a robot. Iris offers quickness and smooth operation thanks to its robotics and generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
According to Makerlabs, the robot has a coprocessor and a dedicated Intel processor for movement tasks, which allows for smooth operation and responsiveness. Users can effortlessly operate and engage with the robot for a customized learning experience using its Android App interface.
