Media baron Ramoji Rao passes away at 87
Ramoji Rao, the media baron and founder of Eenadu and Ramoji Film City, died on Saturday morning in Hyderabad. According to ANI, Ramoji died while being treated at a city hospital.
He breathed his last at 3.45 am.
Following Rao’s death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to his family, friends, and admirers.

The Prime Minister, who shared a photo of himself with Ramoji Rao, described Rao as a visionary who transformed Indian media.
“The passing away of Shri Ramoji Rao Garu is extremely saddening. He was a visionary who revolutionized Indian media. His rich contributions have left an indelible mark on journalism and the world of films. Through his noteworthy efforts, he set new standards for innovation and excellence in the media and entertainment world,” the Prime Minister tweeted.
“Ramoji Rao Garu was extremely passionate about India’s development. I am fortunate to have got several opportunities to interact with him and benefit from his wisdom. Condolences to his family, friends and countless admirers during this difficult time. Om Shanti,” he added.

G Kishan Reddy, Telangana BJP chairman and party MP, too expressed sadness over Rao’s death.
Ramoji’s last rites with State Honours
The Telangana state government has announced that his last rites will be performed with state honors. Ramoji Rao is the first media figure in the country to get state honours. With Eenadu’s 50th anniversary approaching, the entire family, as well as the Eenadu and Ramoji Groups, will mourn their master.

Who is Ramoji Rao?
Ramoji Rao, born in 1936, was the head of the Ramoji Group, which owns Ramoji Film City, the world’s largest film production facility.
He was also the editor of Eenadu, one of Telugu’s most widely circulated daily newspapers. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) rose to prominence in the 1980s thanks to the assistance of the Eenadu media group.
He was known to be close to former Andhra Pradesh chief ministers NT Rama Rao and Chandrababu Naidu, as well as a number of other prominent political and film personalities.
