The IPL 2025 game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off at the HPCA Stadium on Thursday as a safety measure, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal informed IANS. When the game was called off, indicated by the stadium floodlights being turned off, PBKS had a score of 122/1 in 10.1 overs.
“Yes, the match has been called off as a precautionary step, because there are some incidents which happened in Jammu, I believe. That’s what we got to know, so we thought it’s wise to call off the game,” said Dhumal to IANS from Dharamshala.
Fans, Teams evacuated from the HPCA Stadium
This agency recognizes that fans and both teams have begun to be evacuated from the HPCA stadium by the tournament and local officials for safety reasons. The incident occurred following a total blackout in Jammu, with accounts from civilians seeing missile trails in the sky and drone strikes originating from Pakistan.
A total blackout has been witnessed in Baramulla and Pathankot, while Chandigarh has also been indicated for a full blackout. In the game that commenced following a one-hour delay, Prabhsimran Singh (50 not out) and Priyansh Arya (70) formed an exciting 122-run partnership at the top.

Batting first, Punjab were 112/1 after 10.1 overs
Choosing to bat first, Arya got started immediately by hitting Mitchell Starc for back-to-back boundaries. At the opposite end, Prabhsimran Singh faced Starc, striking three boundaries, while Arya scored a four and two sixes off Chameera. Even with Axar Patel coming in during the fifth over, DC found no relief as PBKS concluded the power-play at 69/0.
Arya subsequently enhanced his aggressive play by hitting Kuldeep for back-to-back sixes, after which Prabhsimran struck a four and achieved his fourth consecutive fifty off 28 deliveries, leading PBKS to 122/0 at the midway point.
DC finally shattered the 122-run partnership when Arya attempted to hoist T. Natarajan, but the top edge was taken by the short third-man. Right after that, the players exited the field prior to the next delivery being bowled because of a floodlight malfunction at the stadium, leading to the eventual cancellation of the game.
