The appointment of Kailashnathan as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry demonstrates that he has been crucial to the New Delhi establishment since May 2014. It should be noted that after retiring as Additional Chief Secretary (Gujarat) in 2013, he was smoothly appointed as Chief Principal Secretary to the CM and worked under four CMs: Narendra Modi, Anandiben Patel, Vijay Rupani, and Bhupendra Patel. After Modi’s move to New Delhi as Prime Minister in May 2024, KK continued to serve as a link between Ahmedabad and Delhi.
