Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been detained in California, United States, according to Mumbai Police sources cited by news agency PTI. Anmol, who is wanted in connection with 18 criminal cases in India, had a ₹10 lakh reward announced by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for his arrest.
Anmol Bishnoi has been implicated in the murder of politician Baba Siddique. Investigations revealed that Anmol allegedly played a central role in coordinating the attack by providing logistical and financial support. Police claim he sourced weapons for the assailants through Sujit Sushilsingh, another accused in the case. Additionally, Anmol reportedly shared photos of Siddique and his son Zeeshan with hired shooters via Snapchat, enabling them to conduct a detailed reconnaissance of the area a month before the crime.
Anmol Bishnoi is also a key accused in the high-profile murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Authorities allege he facilitated the execution by managing communication and resources, further strengthening his association with organized crime and high-profile attacks.
In another sensational case, Anmol Bishnoi is accused of conspiring in a shooting plot outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in April. According to law enforcement agencies, Anmol delivered weapons to the shooters in Panvel on March 15 and provided detailed information about Khan, including instructions for carrying out the attack.
Anmol Bishnoi has been linked to a broader network of criminal activities, including extortion, contract killings, and coordinated attacks on Bollywood celebrities and prominent public figures. His detention in California marks a significant development in efforts to curb the cross-border operations of his criminal syndicate.
Law enforcement agencies are now expected to initiate extradition proceedings to bring Anmol Bishnoi back to India, where he faces multiple charges and ongoing investigations into his role in some of the country’s most high-profile criminal cases.
