July 10, 2026: In a significant step towards modernising technical education and equipping Ladakh’s youth with industry-ready skills, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Friday inaugurated the Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Integrated Technologies – Srujan at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Leh.
The state-of-the-art facility, established under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), a subsidiary of Bharat Forge Ltd., is expected to become a key hub for advanced technical training in emerging technologies. Scientech Technologies Pvt. Ltd. has partnered as the technical collaborator for the project.
Developed at a cost of over ₹1.01 crore, the Centre has been equipped with advanced laboratories, industry-grade machinery, engineering simulation software, and modern training systems designed to provide world-class vocational education and practical, industry-oriented skill development for the youth of the Union Territory.
Focus on Industry 4.0 Technologies
The newly inaugurated Centre offers specialised training in a range of cutting-edge technologies, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Industrial Automation, Engineering Simulation Systems, and Industry 4.0 applications.
Officials said the Centre aims to bridge the gap between conventional vocational education and the rapidly evolving needs of modern manufacturing and engineering industries by enabling trainees to acquire practical competencies aligned with global industrial standards.
First Batch of 22 Students Begins Training
The Lieutenant Governor also interacted with the Centre’s inaugural batch of 22 trainees, who have begun an intensive two-month specialised training programme.
As part of their hands-on learning in Solar Energy Technology, the trainees will design and install a solar photovoltaic power system for the laboratory itself. The project is expected to provide practical exposure to renewable energy technologies while ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to the Centre.
Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s emphasis on experiential learning and sustainable development by integrating green energy solutions into technical education.
‘Investment in Youth Is Investment in the Nation’
Addressing the gathering, LG Vinai Kumar Saxena described the inauguration as more than just the opening of a new laboratory.
“This Centre represents the beginning of new aspirations, greater opportunities, and a brighter future for the youth of Ladakh,” he said, adding that the greatest wealth of any nation lies in its human resources and that every investment in education and skill development contributes directly to long-term economic and social prosperity.
He noted that the Centre of Excellence would enable young people in Ladakh to acquire industry-relevant skills required in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
Preparing Youth for the Future
Highlighting the rapid transformation taking place across industries worldwide, the Lieutenant Governor said emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Industrial Automation, Electric Mobility, Robotics, Smart Manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 are redefining the global workforce.
He stressed that traditional vocational skills alone are no longer sufficient and that young people must be equipped with advanced technological knowledge to remain competitive in future job markets.
“The youth of Ladakh should not merely adapt to technological change but become leaders of this transformation,” he said.
Industry Partnership Appreciated
The Lieutenant Governor commended Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited for establishing the Centre under its CSR programme and acknowledged the contribution of Scientech Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in providing advanced engineering systems, technical expertise, and long-term training support.
Officials said the Centre is expected to significantly strengthen Ladakh’s technical education ecosystem while creating new opportunities for local youth in high-growth sectors such as renewable energy, automation, electric mobility, and advanced manufacturing.
The initiative is also aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting clean energy, skill development, and building a future-ready workforce capable of meeting the demands of India’s rapidly evolving industrial landscape.
