A luxurious bungalow owned by Sandip Ghosh, ex-head of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, now in CBI custody for suspected financial misconduct, is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) following raids at various sites connected to him in West Bengal last Friday.

ED detains Prasun Chattopadhyay, an aide of Ghosh

In the raids, Prasun Chattopadhyay, a accomplice of Sandip Ghosh, was detained by ED officials. Ghosh and three colleagues were previously taken into custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on September 3 for suspected financial misconduct at the government-owned RG Kar hospital.

After detaining Prasun Chattopadhyay at his home in Subhasgram, South 24 Parganas, ED officials transported him to Madhya Narayanpur in Canning. According to locals, Sandip Ghosh is accused of constructing a luxurious farmhouse and bungalow on a two-bigha land three years ago, which he supposedly visited regularly with his family, as per News18.

The report stated that they frequently observed Sandip Ghosh visiting the bungalow, named “Sangeeta Sandip Villa”, with his wife and family, indicating that it belongs to him. Ananda Bazar reported that the bungalow was named after Sandip Ghosh and his wife, Sangeeta Ghosh.

ED conducts raids at 9 locations in Kolkata

The ED conducted raids on nine locations in Kolkata and its suburbs, focusing on alleged financial misconduct at RG Kar Hospital during Ghosh’s time as principal. The raids were part of a wider operation that began early Friday.

The probe into financial wrongdoing at the hospital was initiated by the CBI and ED after a 31-year-old trainee doctor was raped and murdered on August 9 at RG Kar hospital while Ghosh was the principal.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
