Vinod Kambli Breaks Silence from Hospital: A Glimmer of Hope Amid Health Crisis

“I am alive because of the doctors here,” said former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli in his first public statement after he was admitted  on Monday to Thane’s Akruti Hospital following a sudden health decline.

Doctors revealed that Kambli had brain clots, a condition that has raised serious concerns about his well-being. As his condition remains critical, the 52-year-old expressed gratitude to the hospital staff for their unwavering support.

In a heartfelt message from his hospital bed, Kambli thanked the doctors for their dedication and assured fans of his determination to recover. “I am alive because of the doctors here. I’ll do whatever they ask me to. People will see the inspiration I’ll give them,” Kambli said, as reported by PTI.

Dr. Vivek Trivedi, who was among the team treating Kambli, shared that the former cricketer was in a precarious state when he first arrived at the hospital. However, the sight of Kambli greeting doctors, staff, and visitors has led many to believe that he is showing signs of improvement. Kambli’s condition is being closely monitored, with additional tests planned for Tuesday.

In a generous gesture, the hospital has offered Kambli lifelong free treatment, further reinforcing the support he’s receiving during this difficult time. His recent struggles with health issues, including a urinary problem, have been well-documented, and Kambli has been candid about the challenges he’s faced in recent years.

A Career Defined by Early Promise and Untapped Potential

Kambli’s career started with extraordinary promise. In 1993, he shot to fame with back-to-back double centuries against England and Zimbabwe. His wristy elegance and aggressive approach quickly made him a fan favorite. Despite his early success, injuries, controversies, and a strained relationship with cricket’s governing bodies led to a premature end to his international career. He played just 17 Tests and 104 ODIs, a stark contrast to his potential.

Post-retirement, Kambli has faced financial struggles and health issues, which have sparked offers of support from cricket legends like Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar. Kapil Dev praised Kambli’s contribution to Indian cricket, while Gavaskar emphasized the need to support players who have given so much to the game.

As news of Kambli’s hospitalization spread, fans and fellow cricketers alike have expressed their concern and support, hoping for a swift recovery. Despite the setbacks in his career and personal life, Kambli’s story remains one of resilience. With the backing of cricket icons and fans, there is hope that the former star will once again overcome the odds.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
