Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar became emotional during a media interview regarding the unfortunate stampede outside Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium that resulted in 11 fatalities. Clearly disturbed, Shivakumar recounted the emotional moments he observed.

“I am concerned about the children; I noticed they were 15 years old. I have personally witnessed 10 lifeless bodies. No family can bear this loss,” he stated.

Commenting on the unforeseen surge of people that resulted in the tragedy, Shivakumar remarked, “Nobody anticipated such a crowd. After 18 years, I’m unsure what was bubbling in the youth—they all appeared.”

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister on Wednesday expressed remorse after a stampede near the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru resulted in 11 fatalities during RCB victory celebrations.

Shivakumar accused BJP of politicising the incident

He blamed the BJP for making the incident political. “BJP is engaging in political maneuvers… We express our deep regret for the event. We will develop an improved solution later on…”

The Congress leader mentioned that all government functions planned for tomorrow have been delayed following the disaster.

Karnataka Govt declared Rs 10 lakh compensation for families of deceased

The Karnataka government declared a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those who died in the stampede.

Shivakumar acknowledged that the officials had significantly undervalued the number of attendees. “We estimated around 30,000 to 40,000 would show up, but over 300,000 were present.” “And on the roads from the airport, I believe there was a large throng.”

Describing the scene as “incredible,” he explained how the gates were damaged and emphasized the administration’s remorse. “We sincerely apologize for this. We aimed to understand the facts and convey a straightforward message. We shall accomplish it.”

The stampede happened on Wednesday during a public event celebrating the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team for their first Indian Premier League championship victory.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
