IPS officer Anurag Garg appointed Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau
Anurag Garg, a 1993-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has been named the new Director General (DG) of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). His designation represents a major shift in leadership within one of India’s key agencies responsible for fighting drug trafficking and illegal substance abuse.
Garg, who has served as the Additional Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) in New Delhi, has valuable expertise in this position due to his extensive experience.

The NCB, functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has a crucial role in implementing the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). Who is Anurag Garg?
Anurag Garg, a veteran officer of the Indian Police Service, is from the 1993 batch of the Himachal Pradesh cadre. He has dedicated over thirty years of his life to working in different roles within the field of law enforcement, showcasing an impressive career.

Prior to becoming the NCB DG, Anurag Garg held the position of Additional Director General (ADG) at the BSF headquarters in New Delhi.
His position in the BSF, an important paramilitary force in India, required him to take on substantial duties related to guarding the borders.
