IPL 2025 has got to a very interesting phase with the play-offs race getting heated up. Out of the 10 teams, eight still remain in the fray for a spot in last 4.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been eliminated while Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) holds the top spot, having collected 16 points from 11 games. Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) trail behind them with 14 points each, after playing 11 and 10 matches, respectively.
So, what is the scenario for the eight teams to qualify for the play-offs. Let’s take a look:
1. Royal Challengers Bangalore:Â RCB, who are currently at the top spot and are almost through to the last 4, still need a win from their remaining 3 games to guarantee their place. If they manage to win all 3 games, they will finish in the top 2 which will give them extra cushion to make it to the final.
2. Mumbai Indians:Â Five-time IPL champions MI are currently placed at the second spot with 14 points from 11 games. They will need to win at least two out of their remaining 3 matches to guarantee a spot in the play-offs. However, they have all chances to finish in the top 2 if they all of their remaining matches and other results fall in place.
3. Gujarat Titans: For GT, the equation is simpler than that of MI. They must win two of their last four games to qualify for the playoffs. If they secure victories in all four, a finish in the top two is guaranteed.
4. Punjab Kings: After nine matches, PBKS has secured six wins while one match was washed out, require at least two victories in their remaining matches to guarantee a place in the playoffs. They also have a good opportunity to end up in the top two, but for that, they will need to rely on other outcomes.
5. Delhi Capitals: A sudden decline in form has led DC to lose three out of their last five games. At present, they have 12 points from 10 matches and must secure victories in three out of their next four matches to qualify for the playoffs.
6. Lucknow Super Giants: LSG are currently placed in the sixth spot with 10 points after playing 10 matches. They must secure victories in three out of four matches to stay in contention for the playoffs.
7. Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR is currently in seventh place on the points table, having earned nine points from 10 games. They must secure at least three victories and wish for favorable outcomes in other matches.
8. SunRisers Hyderabad: Similar to KKR, SRH hold a slim possibility of reaching the playoffs. Nonetheless, they could still fail to reach the playoffs even if they triumph in all their upcoming games.
