The Telangana High Court rejected the quash petition submitted by former minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) in the Formula E case. The decision would have major political repercussions, as it comes after a previous High Court ruling that halted KTR’s arrest until the verdict was revealed.
In December, the High Court provided him with interim relief, ordering that he cannot be arrested until December 30 in the case concerning alleged corruption during the Formula E race in Hyderabad.
The working president of the BRS previously submitted a petition aiming to dismiss the case filed against him by the state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). In his petition, KTR contended that the case was politically driven and lacked any corroborating evidence to demonstrate criminal wrongdoing.
The High Court, having listened to the arguments from both parties, previously set aside its decision, while permitting the investigation to proceed. The decision was announced today.

Intense drama unfolded at the ACB office on Monday when the BRS working president declined to take part in the interrogation. The leader mentioned that he was not allowed to have his lawyer present during the questioning. The ACB called KTR to present himself to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 9. Despite initially being anticipated to show up sooner, he delayed the date, referencing the upcoming High Court decision.
