The second best thing you can do through your lips is smile and what about the first one? Kissing, obviously!
Nevertheless, we so often do not want to be aware of facts related to Kissing. That’s but obvious again, we get too busy kissing that we do not find to think what goes around comes around. Yes, kissing is a kind of transaction, though our mouth is not an ATM but what we give this time, we may receive next time.
Now coming to the point, our kisses can transmit many germs, including the ones that can be a reason for paving way to cold sores, glandular fever and tooth decay. Saliva comes for free with a kiss. And it can transmit various diseases, that signifies that kissing is a small but vital health risk.
Still, kissing is not always an all doom and gloom. There are researches showing that passionate kissing uncovers many valuable health benefits.
Apart from hazards as shown above kissing does offer many health benefits too, but it might as well transmit a small number of disease-causing viruses and bacteria. The saliva carrying the infectious bacteria and viruses can be spread to another person by kissing. Even if a person has bacteria and viruses in his blood, can infect others through kissing. In other words, some diseases are rather easier to get spread than others.
This is how goes the ‘transaction’
Kissing is a natural transaction of diseases where our mouth works as an ATM. This is obviously not money which keeps going and coming here.
Examples of illnesses caused by viruses that can be transmitted during kissing include:
Colds
Common cold is also known as upper respiratory tract infections which can turn grave inviting bigger problems like pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma, etc. Colds are known to be spread by coming into direct contact with the virus coming from an infected person. We can even catch the cold from airborne droplets. And also by direct contact with secretions (mucous & fluids) from the nose and throat of an infected person.
Glandular fever
This directly belongs to the department of kiss-diseases since it itself is known as the kissing disease. Glandular fever is a usual term for a viral infection called infectious mononucleosis. This infection is caused only by the virus called Epstein-Barr. The virus flies around and gets spread through saliva when you come into contact with the infected person.
Herpes infection
Epstein-Barr, varicella-zoster (causes chickenpox) and herpes simplex (causes cold sores) are the viruses considered part of the herpes family. Herpes simplex virus can fly through air to get spread via direct contact with a person carrying the virus mostly during kissing or in other times during ‘close’ talks.
Hepatitis B
Kissing also loves to transmit this virus, although blood has higher levels of this virus than saliva. Thus when infected saliva or/and blood come into direct contact with someone else’s bloodstream or mucous membranes, the infection can occur. You are also likely to be infected during kissing if the other person has open sores in or around the mouth.
Warts
Warts in the mouth can get spread via the process of kissing, especially if there are areas of recent trauma.
The Bacteria through kissing transaction
Bacteria can get transmitted through kissing also. Here are a few examples of bacteria that can get transmitted during kissing:
Meningococcal disease
No doubt, it has a potential of turning into a life-threatening condition which includes meningitis, inflammation of the membranes (meninges). And that surround the brain and spinal cord, and septicaemia. These bacteria can fly and get spread either via direct contact or through droplets.
Tooth decay
The bacteria causing tooth decay are not found in the mouths of newborn babies. Mouth of a baby must be colonised with infected saliva, which can be run through a kiss on his lips.
What else ?
All the infectious diseases be it Corona, HIV, AIDS, or anything can get help of your kissing to kill some one or to kill you sneaking through some one else. There a number of such illness who want you to kiss some one if you are infected of the diseases like, Herpes, Cytomegalovirus, HPV, Influenza, Meningitis, Fever, Gonorrhea, Mononucleosis, Sore throat, Fatigue, Periodontal disease, Mumps, Cold, Polio, Swollen lymph nodes, Coronaviruses, Epstein–Barr virus, Hepatitis, HIV, Kissing disease, Myalgia, , Rash,, Rubella, etc. This is how they fly through delights dropping dooms to others.
Studies show that, with respect to kissing, only deep kissing seems to be a risk factor. Therefore, one of the precaution here can be to avoid deep kissing as much as possible.
