Case registered against Bhole Baba aka Suraj Pal Singh
Bhole Baba, whose real name is Suraj Pal Singh, was charged in the Hathras stampede case for the first time. The case against him was filed in Patna Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court.
Earlier today, in a video statement, Baba expressed his sadness over the Hathras stampede incident and urged affected families to have faith in the judiciary.
“I’m terribly disturbed by the occurrence. May God provide us the strength to face this agony. Please have faith in the government and administration. I have faith that anyone who caused the mayhem will not be spared. “Through my lawyer, AP Singh, I have requested that the members of the committee stand with the bereaved families and the injured and assist them throughout their lives,” he stated.
Main accused arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police
Meanwhile, Dev Prakash Madhukar, the main accused in the July 2 Hathras stampede, which killed 121 people, was detained on Friday night.
On July 3, the state government appointed a three-member judicial commission, led by a former high court judge, to investigate the Hathras disaster and the potential of a conspiracy behind the stampede.
On Saturday, Madhukar will appear in a municipal court. Madhukar, the’mukhya sevadar’ of the satsang where the stampede happened, is the sole accused identified in the First Information Report (FIR). He will join the investigation and provide information about the “anti-social elements” at the event. The Uttar Pradesh Police issued a Rs 1 lakh reward for information leading to Madhukar’s arrest.

On Saturday, a team from the judicial commission arrived at the Hathras police line to inform the commission of the investigation report into the Hathras incident. According to Hathras police officials, Dev Prakash Madhukar was nabbed near Najafgarh on Friday following technical surveillance. He was later transported to Hathras. Police sources also stated that Madhukar had not surrendered.
